& Last week's furry friend highlights!
So a couple big milestones have happened this past few weeks, for one, we hit our 1 year anniversary. We were too busy with Canada Day celebrations to do much beyond acknowledging it amongst ourselves, with a quick 'Wow, one year, that's amazing'. It fell on July 2nd, so even that conversation didn't happen till a few days later as we all recovered :)
The second milestone is that we're now over halfway through our market season! It's a weird year too, between weather and hyperinflation, there is never a regular day for us or our vendors. But man, when it's good, its so good!
Last week we had an impromptu pet market. I had wanted to plan one properly but we didn't have much for vendors on the list and I wasn't sure where to start. Instead I put up a welcome to furry friends on leashes, and then caught the attention of some pet accessory vendors (Okanagan Hound being a new one for us), and without saying much else we had a lot of great little visitors of all shapes and sizes, including one hairless cat.

We have some fun things on the horizon, some are solid plans, some are still in the works (but I feel confident enough to share them):
July 29th we have Martial Energy Works coming to do a Swordfighting demonstration at the Polson Night Market, they're a historical European martial arts group based here in Vernon, and it should be an intense performance! More on them here
Crankworx - our vendors will be up at Silverstar next weekend for a World Tour multi-stop series of mountain bike festivals coming to our mountain! Market from 10-3 on saturday, july 30. Check Silverstar for more details on the day's events.
Our next Silverstar event after Crankworx is Aug 13, for their Silverstar Summer Wine Festival, vendors will be there from 10 to 3, there will be a selection of local vineyards coming out, and there should be lots to try and experience! Andrew Allen will also be playing, if you didn't get enough of him on Canada Day, the setting on the mountain should be magical!
I'll send out another update next week as we see if there is a way we can support the upcoming Vernon Pride Week (first of its kind!) through the market, but that one is still in its very earliest of planning stages.
